About MixMatched Creations
I’ve been an artist my entire life — completely self-taught, endlessly curious, and always happiest when I’m creating. While I’m an LPN by trade, my art journey took on a whole new meaning back in 2014.
My husband and I learned that we were unable to have children naturally, and IVF was our only option. Insurance didn’t cover everything, and instead of starting a GoFundMe, I decided I wanted to raise the money myself — through my artwork.
A friend suggested I try wood burning. That same day, I went to Lowe’s, bought my first wood-burning kit, and headed to my parents’ house to experiment. My very first piece was a simple dog portrait for my dad — and he still has it proudly displayed today.
My first “real” project was a wood-burned family tree with the quote:
“Family — like branches on a tree, we all grow in different directions, yet our roots remain as one.”
It sold within 24 hours, and suddenly I had more requests than I could keep up with. Within eight months, we had raised enough to begin IVF… and we were blessed with our daughter, Allie, on the very first try. She arrived healthy, perfect, and is now growing into the most incredible little girl — the heart of everything I do.
Over the years, people encouraged me to keep going with my art business. What began with a basic handheld wood burner has now grown into a full professional laser engraving studio. When COVID hit in 2020, my nursing cases closed and Allie was only three months old. My husband and I decided it made sense for me to stay home with her and continue building my business.
During the height of the pandemic, I taught online painting classes and discovered how much I truly loved teaching. I continued offering occasional painting workshops, but in early 2025, I wanted to create something unique — something that stood apart from the typical art classes in our area. So I returned to my roots and began teaching Wood Burning Art Classes, a skill rarely taught and deeply meaningful to me. These classes quickly expanded into private in-home parties, business events, and specialty workshops.
Fast-forward to late 2025: I volunteered to teach a painting class at our local elementary school through the PTA. During that event, I learned that our community had a real need for a children’s art program. That moment sparked something powerful. I am now working with a local church to bring a 6-week Children’s Art Program to life — launching in early 2026. This program will focus on creativity, skill building, confidence, and emotional resilience — giving kids a strong, positive foundation they can carry with them forever.
Through everything, one thing has remained the heart of MixMatched Creations:
We are a family-run business built around family values.
That’s why our logo is a family tree — it represents our beginnings, our growth, and the roots that hold us together.
Today, MixMatched Creations proudly offers:
• Custom Laser Engraving (cutting boards, home décor, gifts, memorial pieces & more)
• Private Wood Burning Parties (in-home or on-location)
• Children’s Birthday Painting Parties

• And soon: a permanent studio space for adult classes — wood burning, painting, creative workshops, and more
My mission is simple:
To bring art, joy, confidence, and a sense of possibility to every person — especially the next generation.
Because I truly believe the magic of life lives in our children. And when we give them tools, encouragement, and a space to create… they grow into who they’re meant to be.
