Celebrate the holiday season with the MixMatched Creations Christmas Art Program!

 

This creative program is designed for kids, adults, and families and is a great way to learn new crafts while creating beautiful Christmas décor and handmade gifts for the people you love.

 

Throughout the program, students will explore several completely different types of art and crafting, including string art, ornament painting, vinyl application, painting on glass, wood finishing and distressing, basic hardware assembly, and faux stained glass.

 

Several projects also include beginner and more advanced options, allowing students to choose a design that best matches their skill and comfort level.

 

Whether you keep your creations for your own home or wrap them up as Christmas gifts, you’ll leave the program with handmade pieces you can be proud of.

 

Students will build skills in:

 

✔ Creativity and confidence

✔ Following step-by-step instructions

✔ Painting and detailing techniques

✔ Working with wood and glass

✔ String-art techniques

✔ Applying vinyl with transfer paper

✔ Creating paint washes and distressed finishes

✔ Basic project assembly

✔ Faux stained-glass techniques

✔ Turning simple materials into handmade gifts and décor

 

Each class includes all supplies, guided instruction, hands-on learning, and plenty of opportunity for individual creativity.

🎄 Weekly Christmas Projects

 

November 12

 

🧵 Christmas String Art

 

Kick off the Christmas season by learning the art of string art!

 

Students will work with a prepared design and learn how to carefully wrap and layer string to create their Christmas artwork.

 

Choose between:

 

🎄 Christmas Tree – Beginner

💚 Grinch – More Advanced

 

The Christmas tree offers a simpler introduction to string art, while the Grinch provides a more detailed challenge for students looking to take their project a little further.

November 19

 

🎨 Painted Christmas Ornaments – Set of 2

 

Create a set of two hand-painted Christmas ornaments!

 

Students will practice painting, detailing, color selection, and finishing techniques while creating two coordinating ornaments.

 

Keep them for your own tree or turn them into heartfelt handmade Christmas gifts for someone special.

There will be no class on Thursday, November 26 in observance of Thanksgiving.

 

Enjoy the holiday with your family, and we’ll see everyone back the following week!

December 3

 

🎅 Christmas Santa Scene Light-Up Wine Bottle

 

Transform a recycled wine bottle into a glowing Christmas decoration!

 

Each student will receive a wine bottle and cork-style Christmas lights to place inside.

 

We’ll create a festive Santa Christmas scene while learning how to work with vinyl decals and transfer paper. Students will learn how to position, transfer, and apply vinyl to a curved glass surface before adding the lights and watching their Christmas scene come to life.

 

This project introduces a completely different crafting technique while creating a beautiful decoration that can be displayed throughout the Christmas season.

December 10

 

🧦 Christmas Stocking Hanger

 

Create a handmade Christmas decoration that’s also functional!

 

Each student will receive a pre-drilled 1” × 6” × 24” wooden board and choose between two designs:

 

🎅 Santa – Gray-Washed Background

🦌 Reindeer – White-Washed Background

 

Students will learn how to create a watered-down acrylic paint wash that adds color while still allowing the natural wood grain to show through.

 

You’ll also receive sandpaper to distress the wood and create a rustic finish.

 

Next, students will paint their Santa or reindeer design, screw the stocking knobs into the pre-drilled board, and finish their sign with the phrase:

 

“The Stockings Were Hung…”

 

Students can choose to apply the wording using a vinyl decal or challenge themselves by painting the lettering by hand.

 

Sawtooth hangers will also be included for the back, giving you a finished Christmas stocking hanger that can become part of your family’s holiday décor year after year.

December 17

 

✨ Faux Stained-Glass Christmas Art

 

Finish the Christmas program by learning how to create the beautiful appearance of stained glass using faux stained-glass techniques!

 

Students will learn how outlines, color placement, texture, and painting techniques work together to create the illusion of real stained glass.

 

Choose between:

 

🎄 Christmas Tree – Beginner

❤️ Christmas Cardinal – Advanced

 

The Christmas tree offers a simpler pattern for students learning the technique for the first time, while the cardinal provides additional detail for artists looking for more of a challenge.

🎨 Skill-Based Class Placement

 

Our art program uses a skill-based approach rather than strict age groups.

 

Artistic ability develops differently for everyone. Some younger students may be ready for more advanced techniques, while some older students or adults who are new to crafting may prefer a beginner-level project.

 

For classes offering multiple designs, students can select the option that best matches their skill level.

 

Our goal is to provide enough guidance for beginners to feel successful while still giving more experienced artists opportunities to challenge themselves and learn something new.

👨‍👩‍👧 A Christmas Program for Kids AND Adults

 

Our Christmas Art Program isn’t just for children!

 

Kids, teens, parents, grandparents, and adults are all welcome to register.

 

Create alongside your child, come with a friend, bring a grandparent, or simply join us because you’d like a relaxing and creative activity during the Christmas season.

 

Parents are also welcome to stay and assist younger children who may need additional support.

 

No previous art or crafting experience is required.
